Fireworks

Worn out from chasing our crazy toddler around the park, we started making our way back home - Who decided we'd walk and not drive?! Fortunately, there's a Jamba Juice on the way. The creator of the energy boost must've been the mother of a toddler. Thank goodness for JJ (and nap time!).

After Cole woke up, we enjoyed some pizza and walked to the hill by our old place - We thought an empty lot would be the perfect place to view the fireworks (as did 100 other people!). Cole couldn't get enough of the show - He pointed and had "Ooh" and "Aah" on repeat. I'll never forget it. The 4th of July is slowly inching towards Thanksgiving as the best holiday of the year!

Happy 4th of July!

Hope you had a wonderful day celebrating with friends and family!

Love,
The Energizer Bunny

July 4th Weekend

Saturday - We met Aunt Sarah and the Keegan's up in Carlsbad at the beach!

Not our chair...

Sand and cookies - Delicious combo.

Sunday - We stopped at Phil's BBQ and made our way up to Uncle Mike & Aunt Sarah's. Good food and drinks for the adults, bubbles and a sprinkler for Cole!

*This is us waiting in the car for the food... He just started saying "Uh Oh" the other day - Problem is he won't stop until you fix what's 'broken.' Totally cute in this case, the binding was coming apart. But when he drops things on purpose and says it until you pick it up? Or when you push the Guide button on the TV remote and it's all you hear until you pick something? Not so much!

"Uh Oh. Uh Oh. Uh Oh. Uh Oh......."

The Big Apple - Part Three

I've only been to Brooklyn four (maybe five?) times - Years ago when we first visited Yon and Ellen's new home, we pretty much just eyed the neat brownstones, the different bars and all the bagel/pizza shops. This trip? All we noticed is babies, moms, nannies and more babies - Never would've imagined, but it's such a fantastic place to raise a child. We joined Tessa on some of her usual adventures (all free!) and had a blast - We were only there for two days, but Cole experienced a music class (in a bar - genius idea for slow afternoons), multiple playgrounds and a playgroup at a local cafe.

Tuesday Morning - Breakfast at Habana Outpost

Tuesday afternoon - After the kiddos woke up, we hit the park again. Cole couldn't get enough of the water features, while Tessa preferred dry land!

I failed to take pictures at Chris and Rhoda's place - They were so sweet (and brave!) to have us all over Tuesday evening. This trip reminded me again of how lucky I am to have married into such a great family/group of friends. We didn't have enough time to see everyone we wanted, but we'll hopefully be back in the Spring to see those we missed and meet Baby Ostling and Baby Taylor!

The Big Apple - Part Two

Looking back on our trip, we weren't able to see and do as much as we hoped, but we certainly did a lot with the time we had.

Thursday Evening - Rehearsal Dinner
Friday Afternoon - Fun with family at Great Uncle Bob and Aunt Noreen's home
Friday Evening - Pizza with Grandma, Grandpa, Justin and the Ostling family
Saturday Afternoon/Evening - Brandon & Eileen's wedding

Chris and Sabrina were so very kind and watched Cole while we were away - It was our first 'date night' in awhile and it was great to eat, drink and dance without a single worry.

Tom & Justin at dinner

Sunday morning we jumped back into Mama-Dada mode and visited a local park before we made our way to Brooklyn. Ryan and Cole were so cute and had such a great time with one another!!

The Big Apple

Back to New York for another wedding! This time, Tom's cousin was getting hitched. We flew out Wednesday afternoon to Philadelphia - Supposed to land at 12:20am, landed at 1:30am. Thanks to waits for the baggage claim and hotel shuttle, we got to our hotel at 2:30am. Nothing like starting the trip off right!

Tom woke up early to get the rental car and we were on the road at 10am. First stop, Connecticut! We've been wanting to see Matt and Julie's home for years and figured this would be the perfect opportunity. Apparently the trip from Philadelphia to Fairfield should be two hours - Well, clearly that's not going to happen when we have limited time to spend with friends! Construction + Torrential Rains + Traffic = FOUR hours in the stupid car. Once we arrived, Cole quickly made himself at home. Emily woke up soon after and it was so great watching them interact - Last time they were crawling at the NYC Children's Museum (October 2010)!

Clearly not getting the point...

There. Sort of...

So. Much. Fun.

Such a great visit! So sad our time was cut short, but we had to head to New York for the rehearsal dinner - Hopefully they'll make it to California soon!
