Six Months

17lbs 4oz and 27.75 inches - Still long and lean, with a ginormous noggin. 91 percentile, folks. Here's hoping there's a huge brain in there!

  • He's sitting up now!
  • Has only rolled over twice (both in the middle of the night scaring the heck out of all of us). Pediatrician bets he'll crawl first.
  • Food: Applesauce, bananas, carrots, sweet potatoes, yellow squash, yogurt and peas. Hates all but the orange ones! Gags, makes faces, spits them out... Even got some major projectile with the peas! Going to try pears next - If that doesn't work, I may need to take the hint that my recipes are a tad disgusting and I need to start purchasing his food!
  • Spit-up is pretty much a part of our past. Pediatrician switched his formula so our wallets won't take such a hit. It still has the protein broken down and doesn't smell like dog food! Let's hope our carpets survive the switch!
  • Watch your bag of Doritos around this kid - He loves anything red and crinkly.
  • Laughs hysterically when Tom does the worm or I "die" - We do anything to get a laugh around these parts!
  • Turns his head if he hears Elmo or Sid the Science Kid on TV
  • Sleeps 9 hours at night - We shoot for 10pm most nights. Gives Tom plenty of time to see him each evening, and I don't have the urge to gouge my eyes out when I see 5:15am on the clock. Learned the 9-hour-on-the-dot REAL quick.
  • Needs a nap every 1 1/2-2 hours. If he misses his 6pm one, lasting until 10pm is a struggle!
  • Insists on exploring the apartment when he wakes up. If we try and sit down on the couch with him, put him on his changing table or sit him on the floor... Watch out! So, we walk. Only takes a minute or two, and we have a much happier baby when we start the day.
  • Still a joy to bring shopping and out to eat - Shopping carts and highchairs have made these outings much easier, and he loves to flirt with cashiers and waitresses!
  • I don't create that blonde spike - His new hair won't stay down!
  • Obsessed with remotes and paper. Tries to fool us too... Acts all relaxed/like he forgot about them but the minute you let your guard down, he lunges.
  • Does. Not. Stop. Moving.
  • Getting to the clingy stage. We can no longer leave the room without a fuss. Nice to be loved, but I can deal without the whining/drama!
Outfit from Grandma L's coworker - Tom thinks he looks like he's part of the Italian mob. Okay, it is a sky blue sweatsuit and maybe if he had some gold chains on... but I think he looks cute!

Best Friends

It's clear Cole absolutely adores his Daddy. I can get some laughs during the day, but nothing like Tom can. The minute he walks in the door after work, he is Cole's. I love watching them interact and wish I could capture each moment.

I'm so thankful Tom is such a hands-on Dad. Late night feedings, diapers, drool/spit-up patrol, baths... You name it, he's willing to do it. I really wish his first Father's Day wasn't spent moving, but I think they're truly going to enjoy their new space.

Happy 1st Father's Day, Tom! You're amazing.

Rub-A-Dub-Dub

Cole's in the tub! He LOVES it. We always do it earlier in the evening because he's wired afterwards!

We're Moving!

Today was our lucky day! Found a great place online and we just got back from looking at it. It's perfect- Huge bedrooms, tons of closets, new carpet for when it's time for crawling and a bonus room we're going to turn into a playrooom. We won't have to worry if it takes Cole 30-45 minutes of crying before he settles himself... Or if he wakes up in the middle of the night... I can relax and not immediately think of the neighbors. I'm SO excited for that aspect! I've been looking for months and never thought something would pop up- I can't help but be sad that we're leaving our current apartment. We've been here five years! It was our first place together and Cole's first home. I just keep telling myself that moving will give us the space/peace of mind we need while we continue to save for our dream house!!

Sneaking in Some Zzzzz's

It is Day 6 of Our-Only-Mission-In-Life-Is-To-Get-Our-Child-To-Nap. Almost a week and he still refuses to nap in his crib... Is terribly exhausted... And obviously can't function with 15 minutes here and there in the car/stroller. Worst part for me? Listening to him cry 3-4 times a day for 45 minutes straight. Do I let him just fall asleep in my arms and possibly risk all we've accomplished at night? That thought is worse than the screams- I take really, really long showers now and do all I can do to busy myself until Tom comes home. I even baked a cake last week! I know, who knew Dr. Ferber would turn me into Martha Stewart!?

Once Tom is home, we try and do everything imaginable to keep him up as late as possible - He wakes each morning between 4:45am-6:30am. If he goes down around 7pm, I'm up for the day at 4:45am. If we can get him in bed around 8:30/9pm, we have a better chance of having him sleep until 6am. Pretty much impossible when he falls asleep playing with his favorite toy!

p.s. If your baby was "ferberized" in 7 days or less... Or if your baby sleeps 10-12 hours at night and loves to take 3-4 naps a day... Please don't tell me.
