Rules Schmules

For the most part, Cole is a rule follower - Always has been.

I can walk around our neighborhood with him and know he will hold my hand and follow directions at all corners, alleys and driveways. I can leave him with markers, crayons or stickers, knowing he will only put them on paper. He won't go near tchotchkes in other people's homes. I can shower because I trust him with Hayden and know he'll come tell me if she spit-up or is crying. If I say, "No touch" at a store, he pretty much stands at attention and salutes me. I never would, but could leave him home alone and know I would only come back to his toys scattered around the house. He would never mess with the toilet paper or flush things... The kid is so good, he asks permission to dump his truck of 9 billion matchbox cars!

But when it comes to jumping, running or talking, the kid can't be stopped.

"Lower your voice, please."
"No running, Cole."
"Shhhhhhhhhhh...."
"Please don't jump, it's late."
"Please be quiet, Bub. Hayden is sleeping."

Does. Not. Matter.

He is a motor mouth and thinks he's a marathon runner and gymnast.

Is it because he's two? Does it stop when he's three? Please tell me it does. 48 days and counting!
