Let the Chaos Begin!
We were released the next day at 2:30pm.
Last few moments at the hospital...
Around 4pm, Tom and Grandpa took Cole and Hayden to the playground. It was shortly after that when the baby started turning blue. I looked at my mom, knew she saw it too and went for the bulb syringe. I don't know how I kept it together and didn't panic - I just kept suctioning and was seconds from screaming for my phone when she turned pink again. She had some choking/spit-up issues in the hospital and every nurse said it would go away in 48 hours. Apparently because she came out so quickly, she didn't go up and down the canal enough times to push the fluid out of her system. They were so nonchalant about it, we figured we were over-reacting. Well, clearly not. Tonight she will be in the bassinet with Tom on the floor next to her and me staring from the bed. No sleeping until we hit 48 hours.
"Mama, I love our baby."
Me too, Bud. Me too.

It's a GIRL!
We went to bed Wednesday night disappointed I was another day late. Around 10pm, I went out to the couch because of my acid reflux. I was sitting there popping Tums and crying (no joke) when I felt my first contraction - I downloaded an app to track them and tried not to wake my parents on the sleeper sofa in the next room. 20 minutes apart... 10... Back up to 13... Holy crap, forgot how painful these suckers were!
4am: I woke Tom and told him to turn off his alarm because he wouldn't be going to work in the morning. They were only 8-9 minutes apart so he went back to sleep.
6:30am: I woke up my mom and told her to hop in shower.
7am: Woke kids. Got them dressed/fed for Grandpa.
7:45am: Said good-bye and Grandma, Tom and I started our walk to Scripps Mercy. Stopped 3 times for contractions... Sure people wondered what the hell we were doing!
8am: Admitted. Contractions 3-5 minutes. 5cm dilation.
9am: Epidural
9:30am: Got a text that Grandpa and the kids were at 7-11 getting Slurpees.
10am: Doctor broke my water. 6-7cm dilated.
10:50am: 8-9cm dilated. Doctor told me he'd be back in 15 minutes. Thought he was joking - I assumed it would be another 5-6 hours!
11:25am: 3 pushes... It's a GIRL! Full head of hair, 9lbs 3oz and 20 inches.
A nurse had to give Fatty formula because she wouldn't stop screaming. She chugged 2oz and finally calmed down. Apparently she was not happy her food supply was cut off by her father!
No fever... No complications... Happy and healthy - Such a relief. And the fact we were able to get the kids ready for my dad, say good-bye and only be at the hospital for 3 1/2 hours before our beautiful daughter arrived? This meant the kids could visit that afternoon and my mom would be back at the house that evening to help with Cole and Hayden - It's truly amazing everything worked out so well.
Epidurals are incredible.

Quiet again... Time to enjoy my first sushi dinner and stare at our new addition! So blessed.
