Dear Bubby,
My amazing, thoughtful, adventurous buddy. I love that you still hold my hand, want to snuggle and light up when you see me.
This was a big year for us - Kindergarten! We survived the first week and now you love it (especially recess and PE). Ms Diana said you're quiet, kind, sweet, an excellent listener and super smart - At the beginning of the year, you were the only one that could point out 1-30 and count to 100! She loves that she can always rely on you to be good and follow through. No surprise there - You don't like to disappoint and have vowed to never get below a green card.
You've come home with some new words and interests (fake fighting/superheroes) but nothing like we expected. Some evenings are rough, but I have to remind myself you've had a long day/week. You're exhausted from learning, sharing and being good ALL day - Home is where you can let go a bit.
I wondered how school would change your relationship with Hayden. I expected you to miss each other dearly and no longer argue because your time together is now cut short - Ha! What a fool, I am. The fighting has picked up a bit, but it's clear you love her more than anything and enjoy sharing fun moments with her.
Sutton... Goodness, you adore her. Feeling is mutual! I'm pretty sure Cole will be her first word and you'll be the first one she walks to. You're so sweet and gentle with her... She's a lucky girl to have you for a big brother.
You can point out a Camaro, Corvette, Mustang, Challenger, Charger or Corvair from two miles away but nothing comes before monster trucks now. Grave Digger... El Toro Loco... Monster Mutt... I never imagined I'd know these names. I heard Hayden ask you the other night, "Cole, can we please talk about something other than monster trucks?" Daddy and I often wonder the same thing, but are thrilled you've found something that makes you so happy.
School... Two visits from the tooth fairy... A farewell to training wheels... Your first NFL game... Five was a big year for you! May the next year hold so much more - We're so excited to watch you grow and experience all life has to offer.
Happy Birthday, Cole. We love you so much!
Love,
Mama
