A high school friend was in town, so we met up at Kate Sessions Park. Pretty sure we didn't picture this moment while working at Ace Hardware together!

Lockdown
This morning I turned on the news and saw that there was an active shooter five blocks from Cole's school. I knew that he was going to recess soon and grabbed my phone to call the school. I saw that I had an email from his Director and was relieved to see that they were aware and already taking precautions. (It's so obvious now that the police made their rounds/calls within minutes but in that moment I panicked).
The standoff lasted all morning. We were so thankful the shooter never left his building or hurt any innocent bystanders.
While we never imagined our child would be in such a situation, we were happy that we had a 'fire drill' to see how the school handled it. We were very impressed with the safety precautions they had in place, their constant updates and their early release procedures.
Cole came home thinking it was merely bad weather that kept them in his classroom all day. While it's very comforting knowing the staff loves our children and will do what they can to shield them from bad people and thoughts, we hope they never, ever have to repeat their safety plan again.

How Was YOUR Day?
Today we were sitting at Costco enjoying lunch when Hayden screamed. I immediately started looking for pinched fingers, bee, etc. Nope, no injury. She was just peeing all over the bench!
Didn't have wipes - Tom used their tiny, cheap napkins on the bench/ground.
Didn't have change of clothes - I walked through the store with wet jeans and made her sit in a box in the cart. (No way were we going to drive all the way home and try again!).
Hour after we got home I picked this out of her nose.
She likes to make life interesting, that's for sure.

Family Pictures
We were so grateful to receive a session with a professional photographer for a gift - I wish more would've turned out but suppose I can't complain with three smalls ones!
