Gymnastics: Summer Olympics 2028

After 4 classes at the YMCA, he's clearly on his way.

Wasn't so sure after the first one!  He was excited, but really nervous.  Parents are allowed to participate, so I stuck by his side through everything. The class was very boring (a lot of stretching time/lame activities) and several of the kids were out of control - One mother kept yelling, "Make good choices, Lily!" the entire time.  Ummmm, it's not working, lady - Your daughter isn't sitting on her red circle and is hanging from the high bar. Try a new phrase!  Yeah, was feeling PRETTY good about my adorable offspring until Hayden decided to wake up crying and present her first ever blow-out diaper.  It was awesome stripping and changing her right there on the mats and have everyone look at me like I was crazy.  Truly awesome.  I had to hold her through the rest of the class (10 minutes) and was relieved when it was over.

Fortunately, each week got better and better - We practiced stretching at home, he got used to the other kids/teacher, and the trampoline, foam 'marshmallow' pit, and balance beam became part of the routine. He had a blast.  We're going to wait awhile until we do it again though - Hayden never napped like she was supposed to and it was too much for me trying to be there for him and wrangle her.  Thinking this Fall may work when I can either enroll her in something or find a drop-in daycare.  Hopefully Bela understands!

Hayden - Eight Months

Hayden's crawling super fast, walking along the couch and even letting go for minutes on end.  Two of her top teeth are coming in, which means I'm up just about every hour trying to soothe her or find a lost pacifier.  Going on two weeks, so those suckers better pop soon.

She loves to wrestle with Cole and pull his hair - No matter how many times you remove her/her hand, she comes back for more. As a result, he no longer considers her a baby and forgets to be gentle in the ring.  He'll just roll out from underneath her, sending her down for the count and causing the little instigator to bawl.  Hurt?  Pride? She shrieks if I try to make dinner, so it's tough to tell if she's sporting an injury after their matches.

The tantrums... The drama... The hysterics... I thought it would start around 2, not 8 months.  We can only hope our little bruiser mellows with age!

Happy Birthday, Avery!

Avery's 3rd birthday party was last weekend and a special guest was in attendance - Frannie the Clown. I thought Cole would merely stare her down all night, but he hopped right on the stool and asked for Spiderman - He wanted an exact replica of the one from PadresFest, of course, but she asked if she could do his face - I thought he'd say no, but he went for it and I am so happy he did.  He looked amazing!

My kind of girl...

Pretty sure Spidey had a little bit of fun that night.

Reason to Celebrate

When Grandma Z was told the fantastic news her treatment was successful, flights were booked and the crew arrived a few weeks later.  We did what we always do - Spent a lot of time at The Welk Resort's pools and playgrounds, ate a lot of good food and caught up.  So happy they were able to meet Hayden and we were able to give Grandma some much needed hugs!

SeaWorld

We have lived here 10 years and it's 2 miles from us, yet we've never been - Yesterday the kids and I got to go and enjoy the day for $6. We got to see fish, turtles, penguins, and polar bears and watch two shows. One had a killer whale calf born on Valentine's Day!

So grateful to Jack and Finn for inviting us on their preschool field trip - We had a great time and learned a lot too!

Legoland - Take Two

Tom was off for President's Day, so after our appointment we continued up to Carlsbad!
