We Need a Bigger Tent

Many thought we were nuts for planning a camping trip with a newborn, but we figured bed - tent... We won't sleep well either way, so why not?

We drove up to William Heise in the morning and hiked. Sierra, Avery, Annie and their parents met us later in the day. Fun at the campsite/playground... Kabobs for dinner... Smores... Stars... It was perfect.

The Next Morning:

And I was squished between the girls all night... Thanks, Cole.

Sutton slept soundly from 9pm-6am (night two being on tummy). So much for the newborn keeping everyone awake!

Before the next trip I'm going to invent a tent with built-in bed rails.

Miracle

For the past couple of weeks I've been getting Sutton to sleep by putting her on my chest. For awhile, it was easy to transfer her to the bassinet by our bed. Lately, every time I put her down she wakes up screaming so I pick her right back up and start the process over. To say I'm not getting any sleep is an understatement (I'm not the best co-sleeper and don't trust myself to hold her there all night). Last night I decided enough was enough. I put her on the floor, flipped her on her tummy and laid next to her... She slept from 10pm-7am. I didn't get much rest making sure she was okay, but hopefully this will be the new normal - Otherwise, I'm worried Jack in the Box may start having my Dr. Pepper ready before I hit the drive-thru!

Monkey Bars are Evil

Yesterday I took the kids to Coronado for another picnic-bus-library-playground-bus adventure. All was well until the playground.  I was holding Sutton and pushing Hayden on the swing when Cole came running over crying. He said he fell off the monkey bars and his arm hurt - When he asked to go home, I knew it was a tough fall.

By the time we got home he was fine - No complaints... He could bend it... Twist it... We decided he was okay and made our way to the El Cajon car show.

Hour in, his arm started hanging weird when he was running with Hayden - Little booger was in pain but more concerned about seeing cars!

We didn't want to take him to the ER because we were scared the waiting room would scar him for life, so I gave him Motrin and put him to bed. I called the pediatrician and was relieved they had a 8:50am appointment (My first time calling and asking for a non-wellness check! Not too bad for 5 1/2 years of winging this whole parenting thing!). The doctor could tell there was pain, but was unable to get a 1-10 scale from him so we were sent to Rady Children's Hospital for X-rays.

A few hours later I got the call that there was only some swelling and no broken bones. A sling and ice were all that was necessary - Phew!

*Same shirt because it hurt too much to lift his arm and put on pajamas*

I have a feeling this is the first of many visits for my active guy...

Halloween in July

Tom wanted to go to Comic Con to check it out - There's tons of free activities and lots of people walking around in costumes. We feared Hayden might get scared, so we decided only Cole would go with him. He heard 'costumes' and wanted to dress up in his SWAT uniform. Once Hayden saw him, SHE needed to be in one too.

I dropped them off downtown and took Molly to Pacific Beach. I wanted her to feel special too - We checked in on Cheeto, got some ice cream and cookies at Baked Bear, and went to the Disney Store.

When they were done we picked them up and hit 7-11 for free Slurpee day!

Smiles all around.
